JOB TEXT: | Operations Manager NLSchools is seeking applicants for the permanent position of Operations Manager for Labrador Location to be Determined within the Labrador Region (depending on applicants) Salary Scale (HL-20): $69,338 - $90,139, plus applicable Labrador and Travel Allowance Duties: Reporting to the Manager of Facilities - Operations, the Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the operations and maintenance of buildings, and assisting in school planning and construction for the Labrador Region. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following: ensure that schools and other buildings are properly maintained in an acceptable state of repair and in compliance with fire, safety, health, environmental and other regulatory standards for buildings; includes regular schools visits and communication with facilities staff; assist with long-term planning for school facilities and for reviewing building plans and specifications to ensure good engineering practices related to capital school construction; provide supervision to janitorial and maintenance employees while adhering to specific details of the Collective Agreement for support staff; includes delegating tasks using work order system, holding regular safety meetings, organizing and implementing training; monitor operating budgets and prepare budget submissions; provide ongoing engineering service and advice to the District; includes managing service and supply contracts, preparing technical scopes of work for facility maintenance repair work; provide assistance as necessary in other administrative areas; and other duties as assigned. This position will be required to respond to situations outside of regular working hours, it will also require travel around the entire region. Qualifications: The candidate must have a degree in a related engineering field and should be a member of PEGNL or have a Diploma in Engineering Technology and be a member of AETTNL with at least five years successful experience in similar positions. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. The candidate will possess a thorough knowledge of building design, maintenance/custodial requirements, code compliance practices, computer systems including use of spreadsheets and building automation software, as well as a familiarity with the K-12 school system. The candidate must possess leadership and supervisory skills to ensure effectiveness in service delivery among maintenance/custodial employees. The candidate must possess good written and oral communication skills.Use of a private vehicle is a requirement of this position.
