| JOB TEXT: | Full time term School Counsellor position Onsite and Virtual Service. Shared position between King Academy, St. Joseph's Elementary, John Watkins and Victoria Academy. Duties to commence January to June 26, 2026. As School Counsellor, you will be a part of the school-based service delivery team and be responsible for the development of an annual comprehensive school guidance program which outlines the implementation of interventions that promote the holistic development of students. Reporting to the Principal or designate, you will provide leadership to school staff, service to students, implement assessments, and participate in response planning for possible critical incidents/traumatic events. As part of the school's service delivery team you will further the aims and objectives of NLSchools and support improved educational opportunities through program support. This position will be a blended position of Onsite and Virtual Service. Travel to the Family of Schools system and in person visits to the school(s) are required. NLSchools invites applications from candidates that can commit to this expectation. The Onsite Service component of the position will require on site presence to the school(s) that the position services at a minimum of five (5) school/site visits per year. Given travel and geography, these five visits should be at least a week long in duration servicing one or multiple schools, depending on caseload. Onsite support should be provided to all on caseload at some point during the year. Travel costs to be covered as per NLSchools policy. These visits could be arranged as a support team if others are also servicing the school in this capacity.Onsite visits will occur in September and June and at least three other times throughout the year as required by the support team. Additional visits can be arranged and some may be required by immediate supervisor if presence is needed to support the school community. The Virtual Service component of the position will involve daily support to the school(s) related to the promotion, planning and management of tasks relative to the learning and development of students. Virtual service can be done at a school or NLSchools office location in which the incumbent is located, depending on availability or at a location that is mutually agreed by the employer and the employee, provided technology is available and privacy can be maintained. Expectations for both on-site and daily virtual guidance services will be guided by an annual comprehensive school guidance plan developed in consultation with the guidance advisory committee. A calendar reflecting appropriate time commitments and priorities would need to be developed and communicated to school administrator(s) in consultation with immediate supervisor. As a School Counsellor, your work will be guided by the application of the Standards of Practice for School Counsellors which are: comprehensive school guidance program; education system and ethical responsibilities; student development, diversity; comprehensive assessment; counseling and career development; and crisis intervention.
