The District congratulates Holy Heart of Mary High School's Olivia Parsons who has received a $70,000 Community Leadership Scholarship from TD Canada Trust. One of 20 students from across the country to be named to the honour, Parsons received word at a ceremony with her peers in Ottawa in early June. She plans to attend Ryerson University in the fall to study creative industries. A strong feminist and mental health advocate, Parsons works to inform people about the harmful impact of social pressures on women and how other females can help build women’s resiliency. Parsons started GLOW (Generating Leadership Opportunities for Women), chairing monthly meetings and a private, online forum where girls can meet women leaders, find mentors and connect with other local organizations. She is also Co-President of Student Council and is active in performing arts.
