Thumbs up for Green Thumbs
Grades 1 and 3 participated in the "Little Green Thumbs" program this year at Helen Tulk Elementary in Bishop's Falls with great success. With the help of their classroom teachers, students began growing vegetables in their classrooms in January as a hands-on learning activity to discover from where most of our food comes. The classes grew lots of tasty treats including tomatoes, lettuce, basil, peppers, cucumbers, onion, peas, beans, and carrots. As an end to this great learning experience, classes participated in a Harvest Celebration with invited guests to sample recipes that used the food grown and to see the end results of all their hard work and dedication to their classroom gardens. Great work students and staff!
