The following statement is being released on behalf of Goronwy Price, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District:
"On behalf of the Board of Trustees of the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District, I would like to extend my appreciation to both the Newfoundland and Labrador Building and Construction Trades Council and the province’s Heart and Stroke Foundation for today’s funding announcement. By providing the Heart and Stroke Foundation with $400,000 to ensure each of our schools is equipped with an automated external defibrillator, the Council is taking real action to acknowledge their commitment to safe communities. Today illustrates how working together with our social sector partners we can deliver important initiatives for our students."
"That commitment to safety is shared by all of us at the Board and is a thread weaved through everything the District does to provide quality education to the students of Newfoundland and Labrador. This announcement today helps promote to our students, staff and visitors the importance of a healthy, active lifestyle. Thank you for helping us to provide the leaders of tomorrow with the tools and information to ensure that should an emergency arise, life-saving equipment is available."
