Grade 7 and 8 students at Catalina Elementary on the province's Bonavista Peninsula used their talents, creativity and community members to tell the story of the impact of the cod moratorium recently, as part of the Nickle Film Festival's Reel Youth filmmakers series. The theme of the series this year is 'water' and the students involved undertook an amazing endeavour, as many of the student were not even born when the cod fishery collapsed in the 1990s.
CBC NL were on-hand recently to see the documentary set-up in action and provided the students with the media spotlight to tell the public about their project.
