Two educators within District schools in Newfoundland and Labrador have each received one of the country's highest honours for the 2016-17 school year - the Prime Minister's Award for Teaching Excellence. Waterford Valley High School (St. John's) educator John Walsh and Belanger Memorial School (Doyles) teacher Kristy Boland have each been named to this year's list of recipients based on their dedication to education and approach to engaeding their students to encourage a deep understanding of core subjects like Math, Chemistry, Physics, and technology.
