A number of junior high and high school students joined their post-secondary counterparts recently at the Skills Canada Newfoundland and Labrador Skilled Career Day and 21st Annual Skills Canada Provincial Competition, held in St. John's. Competiting in either secondary or post secondary categories, students had the opportunity to showcase their skills in a various different categories. Participants highlighted how this event now only allowed them to further develop their interests in particular subject areas but interact and discuss their interests with like-minded individuals.
In addition to numerous honours for individual and group competitions, the following schools were highlighted as the Top Placing Schools in the Secondary School category:
- 1st Place - Holy Spirit High School
- 2nd Place - Ascension Collegiate
- 3rd Place - Queen Elizabeth Regional High School
The Newfoundland and Labrador English School District congratulates all competitors, particuarly those who have achieved Gold and will join Team Newfoundland and Labrador as they travel to Edmonton, Alberta in June to participate in the 24th Annual Skills Canada National Competition.
