Goronwy Price, Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District, today congratulated Richard Christopher (pictured), a physical education teacher and athletic director at St. Peter’s Junior High in Mount Pearl, for being named a recipient of the National Award for Teaching Excellence in Physical Education by PHE Canada.
PHE Canada is a national educational organization which focuses on physical education, healthy eating, and emotional well-being for K-12 students.
“On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I offer my sincere congratulations to Mr. Christopher for this national recognition,” said Chair Price. “Our physical education teachers support the health, well-being and social development of our students day-in and day-out, and volunteer countless hours to ensuring young people have the opportunity to compete in a variety of sports activities. During these days of the Covid-19 pandemic, I know many students are missing those activities, which form such an important part of their overall school experience.”
